Purposed New Features and more

Hello one and all!

Not too much to report this time around other than the usual comics/series clean-up that we normally do for the site.

I would like to say thanks to Armitron2335 for the latest additions to the site including:

Some scarce/rare 30 cent covers/comic book information for the Amazing Spider-man 1st series

Over 50 covers to the Amazing Spider-Man 1st series listings

We do have some new features planned for the comic book details, sometime around this summer. We are thinking of creating a tabbed interface at the comic details level. One tab would have all of the series details, start/finish dates, etc, this way if you are looking at say Marvel's Fantastic Four (vol 1) issue #45, you can easily see the series information like, there are 3 different volumes to the series, the series picks up again from issue #500 which is a continuation from volume 3, etc. Plus, having a tab to show the images for that series would be a good addition. As we think of more stuff we will post it here.

Look for this and many more addition announcements, and completion dates as they become available.
**** Total Replies: 0 ****

Data Cleanup!

Wow, I can't believe it has been several months since my last post! We keep chugging right along, adding more content everyday.

We did some data cleanup today, so you might notice some changes. One of the obvious changes is the JLA/Avengers and Avengers/JLA split. This mini-series between DC Comics, and Marvel comics was split to better reflect the actual publishing. We originally had all four issues under the DC series JLA/Avengers. As it turns out the issues 1 & 3, were printed under the DC JLA/Avengers, while the issues 2 & 4 were printed under the Marvel Avengers/JLA.

Plus, the mess that was Dreadstar has been cleanded up as well. That mess was over duplicate series names and similar publishers, because of the multi-publisher confusion (Epic vs Epic (Marvel), etc).

Here is a quick list of data that was cleaned up:

Corrected Architect/Creator's spelling - Jose Villarrubia

Changed Architect/Creator name of David Hands to Diverse Hands

Deleted Architect/Creator Doug Monarch and moved this assiciations to Doug Moench

Corrected spelling of Architect/Creator - Phil Felix

Removed the duplicate entry for X-Factor (2nd Series) #14

Corrected spelling of Architect/Creator - Ariene Lenshoek

Corrected the duplicate Series entry for Marvel Comics - Ghost Rider

Removed the Series name of The Avengers: Annuals, and folded all of those annuals into the series of The Avengers (Vol 1)

Cleaned up the Marvel/Dabel Brothers vs Dabel Brothers, it has been folded into a single publisher: Dabel Brothers Productions (Marvel)

Removed the duplicate Series entry for Tekworld

Corrected spelling of Architect/Creator - Marco Galli

Removed the duplicate Series entry for The A-Team

Removed the duplicate Series entry for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, all issues under the duplicate title have been folded into this series name

Removed the duplicate Series entry for Devil's Due Publishing: The Lost Squad, and folded all issues under the duplicate title into this series name

Changed the Architect/Creator Name of Mike Choi to Michael Choi

Corrected spelling of Architect/Creator: Yanik Paquette

Corrected the series name of Fantastic Four (vol 1) and (vol 2), we removed the leading The from the name

Moved the issues in the 500+ range in the Fantastic Four (vol 3) to the correct Fantastic Four (vol 1)

We hope these changes help you out, while you try to find information that is important to you!

As always, we appreciate any feedback or suggestions you may have!
**** Total Replies: 0 ****

onPHILE Updates are Complete!!!

The new updates are here! So, this news post is a few days late, the new updates/features were added last Wednesday before we took off for the Thanksgiving weekend here in the US. Here is a quick list of the updates to the onPHILE site:

New site design using the smaller buttons with drop down menus.

Statistics, two site-wide stats have been added as in the most collected comics, and the top rated issues

New Add Content button added to make adding content to the web-site much easier.

New search tool (on the top right of your screen), which allows a quick way to search for a series, or publisher. More options to be added later.

When Searching using the Publisher/Series, you no longer have to wait for the whole page to load after selecting the publisher from the list, the Series will now show up directly under the Publisher, without the page having to reload.

When Adding Content (Comic Books), these menus now use the same methodology as when searching in that, each menu dynamically loads the next menu without having to reload the entire page at this point. Plus, under the comic details, you can now add comic books/trades/hard covers, with pages that reach up to 1000!

The web-addresses for the site will be making a subtle change to an easier to read text, instead of a bunch of numbers and gibberish. For instance: http://www.onphile.com/comic_series/Green_Lantern So for now, you will see both systems working until the final conversion happens in the background.

Please let us know what you think of these changes. They've been a while coming, but we think the new features/updates are worth the wait.
**** Total Replies: 0 ****
